Music includes
gaayan(singing), vaadan(instrumental) and nritya(dance).
Origin of music is Nād. Nād is the sound, pleasing to our ears.
And any sound that has a displeasing effect is noise. Scientifically, nād is
the sound with regular and uniform vibrations while noise is created due to
irregular vibrations.
Spiritually, music is the medium that connects us with God. It is
rightly said that "OM", the "pranavnād" itself is a symbol
of God; according to the Upanishad.
Since the Vedic period, there have been musicians and virtuosos
who have gifted mankind with various aspects of music through their knowledge
and experiments.
